The BMW bike that started it all – 1980 BMW R 80 G/S "Paris-Dakar"

Since 1980, the BMW GS bikes with their unique Boxer engines have shaped the image of BMW Motorrad. Whether Sports Touring or off-road capability, the BMW GS models sold over the last three decades have created a market of motorycles with capabilities like no other.

To celebrate the 30-year tradition of the successful GS-series, BMW is releasing an exclusive range of models beginning with the bike that most can only emulate. That being BMW’s R 1200 GS.

The R 1200 GS "GS 30 years" accentuates the sporty nature of a full-sized Enduro. It includes exclusive Alpine White paintwork and red seat with raised "30 Years of GS" lettering emulating the original R 80 G/S from 30-years ago. In addition, cross-spoke wheels with black anodized rims, a tinted windshield (Europe only) and hand protectors are standard equipment.

The model can be fitted with an optional seat with a reduced seat height (part of the lowering kit) in black.
